Tournaments

Unit 359 holds two sectional tournaments each year. These are open to all players; they are typically held the first weekend in May and the fourth weekend in October. These two Tournaments are held at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont (NE corner of Nelson Road and Hover Street).

The nearest major intersection is 28th Street (US 36) and Jay Road.

Proceeding south on 28th from Jay Road, you will encounter the following landmarks on your right:

1. Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church
2. Elks Park,   and
3. the Sunrise Senior Living complex.

If you approach the Elks Lodge driving north on 28th Street, you will find the driveway 0.7 mile north of Iris Avenue. Sign marking this driveway reads "Sunrise Senior Living" -- the Elks Lodge sign may not be visible when approaching from the south. Turn left onto the driveway.

If you want to bypass the Boulder traffic on 28th Street, that can be done by approaching via the northern part of US-36 or via Jay Road:

• From Lyons, take US-36 eastbound (same as 28th St southbound) to the Elks.
• From Longmont, turn right from CO-119 (Diagonal) at Jay Road, then left at 28th.
• From Lafayette, go north on 75th Avenue from CO-7 (Arapahoe Avenue), then left at Jay Road to 28th, then left again.
• From Denver, when approaching Boulder on US-36 (Turnpike), exit to CO-157 (Foothills Parkway), then continue all the way to the automatic merge onto CO-119 toward Longmont, then turn sharp left at Jay Road to 28th, then left again.
• From Golden, when approaching Boulder on CO-93 (South Broadway), turn right at Baseline Road, then left at CO-157 (Foothills Parkway), then continue to the automatic merge onto CO-119 toward Longmont, then sharp left at Jay Road to 28th, then left again.

At the end of the game, it may be best to exit out the "back" driveway to 26th Street, then north to Jay Road. If traffic problems exist on US-36 toward Denver, then CO-7 to Lafayette or CO-93 toward Golden may be reasonable alternatives.

The Grange is near the intersection of the Diagonal and Niwot Rd. Your exact approach will depend on where you are coming from:

You are northbound on the Diagonal (from Boulder)
    Turn right at Niwot Rd
    Turn left at Franklin St (about 200 yards)
    The Grange is on your left, at the 2nd intersection, about 200 yds ahead
      (Alternate)
    Do not turn at Niwot Rd, but continue northbound on the Diagonal
    Turn right onto 2nd Ave, about 300 yards past Niwot Rd
    The Grange is on your right, at the 2nd intersection, about 200 yds ahead

You are southbound on the Diagonal (from Longmont)
    Turn left at Niwot Rd
    Turn left at Franklin St (about 200 yards after you cross the northbound Diagonal lanes)
    The Grange is on your left, at the 2nd intersection, about 200 yds ahead

You are coming from I-25
    Take exit 235 (Hwy 52), westbound toward the mountains
    Turn right onto US 287 (6+ mi from I-25)
    Go about 1 mile on US 287, then turn left onto Niwot Rd
    Go about 3.5 mi on Niwot Rd, turn right onto 2nd Ave
    The Grange is on your left, at the next intersection, about 300 yds ahead
